The front splash shield is the plastic panel that covers the underside of the engine bay, just behind the front bumper. On the W204 C-Class it keeps water, mud and dust away from the engine, belts and wiring, and it also helps air flow cleanly under the car. On Kenyan roads this panel takes a beating. Speed bumps, potholes and steep driveways scrape and crack it, and once a corner tears loose it starts dragging on the road or flapping at speed. Many owners only find out when they hear a scraping noise under the car or a mechanic mentions that the shield is missing.
