On the W204 C-Class and W212 E-Class there's no throttle cable. The accelerator pedal has a sensor built into it that tells the engine computer how far you've pressed it, and the computer opens the throttle to match. This part is the whole unit: pedal, sensor and mounting base together. When the sensor wears out, the car can feel like it has a mind of its own. Common signs are hesitation or no response when you press the pedal, the revs not rising smoothly, the engine dropping into limp mode with very little power, and a check engine light with an accelerator pedal or pedal position fault. These problems often come and go at first, which makes them easy to blame on something else. A diagnostic scan will show a pedal sensor fault. This is part number A2043000004. It bolts to the original mounting points in the footwell and plugs straight into the factory connector, so no wiring changes are needed. Replacement is straightforward: disconnect the battery, unplug the pedal, undo the mounting screws, fit the new pedal and plug it back in. Afterwards, clear any stored fault codes with a diagnostic tool and test-drive the car to check the throttle response is smooth. Not sure it fits your car?
