The air intake hose carries clean air from the air filter box to the turbo. On the W204 C180 and the GLK, it's a rubber and plastic pipe that sits close to engine heat, so after a few years it hardens and starts to crack around the bends and clamps. Once it cracks, the engine pulls in air the sensors aren't measuring. You'll usually notice a check engine light with a lean-running or air-flow fault, a rough or hunting idle, and weaker pulling power, mostly when the turbo is working on a climb or when overtaking. Some drivers also hear a hiss or whistle when they accelerate. A split hose can let unfiltered air and dust into the turbo, which costs far more to fix, so it's worth replacing the hose as soon as you see a crack. Check your engine before you order. This hose fits the M274 turbo petrol engine, which Mercedes fitted to the W204 C180 from the 2013 facelift onwards. Earlier W204 C180 models (2007–2013) have the M271 engine and need a different hose. Your engine code is on your logbook or on the engine itself, or you can send us your VIN on WhatsApp and we'll check it for you. This is an aftermarket hose made to the original Mercedes-Benz shape and fit. It lines up with the factory mounting points and clamps without any cutting or adapters, and it costs less than the genuine part. Fitting it is quick: loosen the clamps, unclip any sensor connector or breather pipe attached to the old hose, pull it off and push the new one into place. Make sure every clamp is fully tight so no air leaks past. Urban Auto Spares delivers within Nairobi and across Kenya.
